Beaverstate Dental Company History
Beaverstate Dental was founded in 1970 by Mark Whitman. With experience in the dental equipment field as both a sales representative for J. Morita and a strong background as a field service engineer, the company grew quickly by specializing in custom office installations. With the addition of an engineer, the company produced more sophisticated custom handpiece controls, mainly in the form of automatic cart systems.
By 1976 equipment manufacturing grew to the point that the company entered the wholesale market and eliminated custom installations. The commitment to mechanically sound and dependable units carried over from the days when the company was emotionally tied to each installation.
In 1987 Mark Whitman died. His son Rick Whitman, who had grown with the company since 1973, succeeded him.
After a brief period of reorganization and the addition of several new items to address the concerns of asepsis in the dental profession, Beaverstate Dental established itself as a component and equipment supplier to the "full service" dealer network. Our market has steadily grown in recent years. With a background of mechanical experience and a great regard for cost consciousness Beaverstate Dental has grown steadily by returning to its roots in 1987. Solid, dependable, durability in a simple economical package, is our goal.
In 1994 Chuck Whisman, a dental industry veteran with over 25 years experience, joined the company as Sales Manager. Sales territories were established in the domestic market as well as the international market. Knowledgeable and experienced full service Territory Managers were appointed to introduce, sell and provide personal support of our product line to our customers.
In 1996, Chuck Whisman was appointed Vice President of Sales and Marketing and acquired partial ownership of Beaverstate Dental.
In October of 1999, necessitated by an increase in sales, Beaverstate Dental purchases a 17,250 sq. ft. building in Newberg, OR. This new building is more than double the floor space of the Tualatin building. Aaron Britton, a long time employee with vast knowledge of all aspects of Beaverstate operations and products was appointed General Manager.
January of 2000, Beaverstate Dental moves from Tualatin, OR into the Newberg facility. This new location provides us with additional space that will be used for a larger production area as well as additional customer service and inventory space. Our product line continues to grow and evolve, based upon customer input and our strengths developed over our history.
In 2001, we took ownership of the Evolution chair, which is now manufactured in our Newberg, OR facility. The addition of the chair to our product line enabled us to provide a complete system to the dental professional.
2004 saw the addition of our 'Helix' Operatory package as well as our newly designed S-3500 series unit. Our engineering department continues to engineer new products that fit our commitment to provide reliable, affordable products to the dental industry.
